Hi there, I’m planing to be in Germany for a month end of June.
Which provider will give me most data on a prepaid sim and also work in the UK?
    Thank you!

    • MyGermanPhone

Hi Anja, If you are planning to visit Germany and the UK and want to get a prepaid SIM card with a lot of data, there are several options available to you. Here are four providers that offer prepaid SIM cards that could work for your needs:

Vodafone: Vodafone offers prepaid SIM cards with a lot of data and good coverage in populated areas in Germany and the UK. They offer a “CallYa Digital” prepaid SIM card that can be ordered online and activated quickly.

O2: O2 offers a variety of prepaid SIM cards that can be tailored to your data needs. Their “O2 my Prepaid Internet-to-Go” plan offers 10 GB of data valid for 28 days in Germany and the EU. They also offer an “O2 Prepaid All-in” plan that includes unlimited calls and texts in Germany and 10 GB of data valid for 28 days in the EU.

Congstar: Congstar is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and offers prepaid SIM cards with a lot of data for a reasonable price. Their “Prepaid wie ich will” plan allows you to choose the amount of data you need, starting from 100 MB up to 10 GB. This plan also includes unlimited calls and texts within Germany.

Telekom: Deutsche Telekom offers prepaid SIM cards under their “MagentaMobil Prepaid” brand. Their “MagentaMobil Prepaid Basic” plan includes 1 GB of data valid for 4 weeks in Germany and the EU, as well as unlimited calls and texts within Germany.

All four of these providers offer prepaid SIM cards that could work for your data needs in Germany and the UK. It is recommended to check each provider’s specific rates and coverage to determine which option is best for your needs.

Hi Can I get Vodafone German number My pasaport? I live in İstanbul and I will go Berlin on May. Can I get it Before I go ?

    Thank you

  6. MyGermanPhone

Yes, it will be initially registered under our name, which is why you will need to change it yourself. We don’t recommend this, because it is very cumbersome and involves sending a paper form to Vodafone via mail with copies of your passport. But theoretically, it is possible.

    Hello,
I’m planning to visit Germany (and Europe) for about one week in April.
I’m interested in ordering either an O2 or (preferably) Vodafone card from you and having it sent here in advance.
But how it would eventually work with the identification. Will the card be registered at my name or yours? If you will request to receive the card at your place, will I be able to change its ownership afterwards?
Thank you very much in advance

    • MyGermanPhone

      Hello Marco,
Currently, it is only possible to change the ownership of O2 SIM cards. This means that once you receive the SIM card, you will register it under your name and address (the one in your passport) and identify yourself via the online identification service (available in English). Unfortunately, this is not possible for Vodafone SIM cards (yet).

I WANT TO BUY A SIM CARD FOR FEWER USE IN HAMBURG I HAVE SHORTLISTED VODAFONE PLAN-9.99 EURO WITH 10 GB FREE,I HAVE FEW QUESTION IF YOU CAN HELP ME OUT
    1. WHEN SHOULD I ORDER MY SIM IF I WANT IT TO BE DELIVERED ON 25/12/2017
2.HOW MANY VOLUME WILL I GET TO USE AS EUROPE ROAMING? SPECIALLY IN ITALY AS SUCH I AM TRAVELING ITALY AFTER LIVING 3 DAYS IN GERMANY.
    3. DO I HAVE TO DO VERIFICATION AFTER GETTING MY SIM DELIVERED?
    4. IF YOU CAN GIVE ME ANY EMAIL ADDRESS OF VODAFONE GERMANY THAT WOULD BE GREAT
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

    • MyGermanPhone

      1. The sim card cannot be delivered on 25th of December, because that is a public holiday in Germany. It can be delivered on the first working day before that, which is 23rd of December 2017. You should order at least one week before that, better earlier.
      2. You can use all of your data volume as European roaming data, it is the same as in Germany.
      3. If you order on the Vodafone page you will have to identify yourself, which you can do immediately online via WebID (or later once you received the sim card). You will need your ID / passport for that and you need to use an Android smartphone or one of the following browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera. Alternatively, you can order the sim card and select “Identify later” (German: “Später identifizieren”) and then go to a Vodafone shop and let them identify you.
      4. Check the Vodafone contact options here.
